What is Seaglass?
Seaglass is physically and chemically weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. It begins its life as one object on one side of the ocean and becomes something else with a new purpose in a different place.
It starts as ordinary glass, maybe a beautiful piece of tableware or a useful bottle that becomes damaged or is discarded, possibly even as the result of a shipwreck. The glass ends up in the sea where it gets further broken and battered, then smoothed, honed and polished by the ocean until all of its edges are rounded off, and the slickness of the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance. Seaglass can take 20 to 30, and sometimes as many as 50 years to acquire its characteristic texture and shape.

After a corporate career spanning over 20 years and working in senior HR roles in a variety of sectors including engineering, aerospace, FMCG, datacomms and education, I formed Seaglass Consulting Limited in 2013 to provide HR, Organisation Development and Executive Coaching services.
I am interested in the transitions we all face at various points in our lives and careers, and how the qualities and experiences we develop in each phase are transferable to the next. You can’t spend 10, 20 or 30 years in industry without getting a little battered along the way, however it’s not the setbacks, but how you overcome them that forms you.
The name “Seaglass Consulting” was inspired by my finding a piece of ordinary white Seaglass whilst walking on a beach in North Wales. It seemed like a metaphor for the change in my life at that time – 20+ years in industry had honed and polished my natural skills and talents, and now I am using those experiences with fresh purpose to create new value for multiple corporate and individual clients.
